The Central Florida Anthropological Society represents Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Lake Counties. CFAS was established in 1963 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation, study and preservation of Florida's pre-Columbian, historic and contemporary cultural heritage. We are registered with the state of Florida as a non-profit private foundation corporation.
CFAS is a chapter of the Florida Anthropological Society (FAS). Our membership is open to people of all ages and backgrounds including students, professionals, volunteers and the community-at-large. Membership in CFAS is open to all interested individuals have an interest in the prehistory or history of Florida as well as the anthropological fields of archaeology, cultural anthropology, and many other sub fields, who are dedicated to the preservation of Florida’s shared cultural heritage, and who are willing to abide by the FAS statement of ethics (FASweb.org).
